Honey I Washed The Kids Liquid Perfume

As a vegan, it can sometimes be rather frustrating to discover new and old Lush products that contain some kind of animal derivative, especially when they happen to be some of the best products that the company offer. I often have to tell myself that Lush are predominantly a vegetarian company and that I should be grateful that most of their products also happen to be vegan as well. The company do a lot to promote and raise awareness of animal testing and vegetarian/veganism so I shouldn't scold them too heavily.

You can imagine how excited I was then when I discovered that the latest edition of Honey I Washed The Kids Liquid Perfume was certified vegan. While early renditions contained the very ingredient the fragrance is named after, the newer editions have opted for other non-animal alternatives.

Thankfully, Lush are beginning to recognise that the scent of this is universally pleasing and are offering other products with the fragrance; Shoot For The Stars Ballistic, Gold FUN, The Mum Reusable Bubble Bar and Ma Bar are just some of the products that possess this wonderful scent. However, none of them are as wonderful as this perfume is.

Last making an appearance during the 2009 Forum Special Collection, this perfume is long overdue a re-release. Containing sweet orange, bergamot and neroli oil, this perfume is a beautifully sweet, buttery toffee-esque aroma that gets your mouth watering and your senses tingling. This perfume smells like all of the above elements have been melted together into a large pot and turned into a dessert syrup.

You only have to spray this on your skin once for the perfume to come alive and flood your senses with a beautifully bright and uplifting aroma. There's a note of sugary, sticky toffee laced with a sweet, fruity orange top note. As the perfume dampens slightly, the buttery vanilla absolute comes through on your skin and gives a wonderful honeyed, caramel scent. It's decadent yet very youthful at the same time.

What is great about this perfume, is that it's very long-lasting - one spray lasted a good many hours on my skin and I loved how much it mellowed out over time until all that was left was a gentle musky vanilla aroma. This is definitely much more effective than the solid edition and far more beautiful than any of the other products that offer this scent.
In all fairness, this is a perfume that you have to experience yourself to get the full benefits of its wonderful smell. Lush need to bring this back more than once every few years - I can see it being a best-seller if it were made permanent, and it makes a change from just about everything they currently offer. I am very glad to have found this rare bottle and I'll be cherishing it until it makes a comeback.
